This podcast is aimed at members of the German Armed Forces who are already working with AI-based applications or who are expected to take on tasks related to artificial intelligence in the future. Whether in logistics, operational planning and preparation, decision support, or dealing with ethical and security policy challenges, AI is no longer a distant prospect, it is already part of military reality.
The podcast focuses on placing AI in context, building understanding, and encouraging critical reflection. We discuss what AI can do and what it cannot. When does it meaningfully support decision-making? Where do risks, sources of error, or biases arise? And is the full potential of AI within the Bundeswehr actually being utilized? The emphasis is on practical examples and realistic use cases, without requiring any prior technical knowledge.
The podcast is developed by the Center for Postgraduate Studies in cooperation with professors from Helmut Schmidt University / University of the German Armed Forces Hamburg and the journalist Julia Weigelt. Here, academic expertise meets practical questions from everyday military service.
The format is deliberately designed to remain easily accessible while also providing space for deeper reflection. It is intended for anyone seeking guidance on how to work with AI, aiming to make better-informed decisions, and wondering how AI may fundamentally change their role, processes, and responsibilities in the long term.
