Excursion Highlighting the German Armed Forces

In early April, the Center for Postgraduate Education (ZWW) invited the trainees of the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) to spend a day visiting various German Armed Forces institutions in Berlin. By visiting the Operational Command and the dental and dermatology departments at the German Armed Forces Hospital in Berlin, the trainees gained insights into the daily operations of the German Armed Forces.

Big Step for Tomorrow’s Leaders: ZWW Celebrates Its Graduates

Respect and Congratulations: 13 Students Receive Their Certificates After Completing Continuing Education Programs at HSU/UniBw H. In a festive ceremony, 13 students from the five current continuing education programs at Helmut Schmidt University / University of the Bundeswehr Hamburg (HSU/UniBw H) were awarded their certificates after successfully completing their university-level additional qualifications.

The 11th MFIS generation has started their studies.

On December 13, 2024, the 11th generation of the continuing education master’s program „Military Leadership and International Security (MFIS) XI“ began at the Helmut Schmidt University/ University of the German Armed Forces Hamburg.

The second generation of the master’s program “International Procurement Cooperation” has started

On November 6, 2024, the Center for Postgraduate Studies welcomed 23 students from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Germany to the continuing education master’s program „International Procurement Cooperation“ 2024.The IPC program is aimed at officials from ministries in Europe and their subordinate agencies, who are to take on leadership roles in ministerial functions or in European and international procurement projects.

The second pilot round of the “KICK-AI at the German Armed Forces” education program has started

On Monday, the second pilot round of the “ KICK-AI at the German Armed Forces “ education program started and will run until Friday. The first round already took place at the beginning of October.The one-week program covers topics such as AI and data protection, ethics in AI, the current state of artificial intelligence applications in the Bundeswehr, neural networks, prescriptive analytics, and much more.

33 graduates celebrate their master’s degree

With a festive ceremony, 33 graduates of the master’s programs Military Leadership and International Security (MFIS), Civil-Military Interaction (MCMI), and Leading Diversity (LEAD) were honored at the Helmut Schmidt University/University of the German Armed Forces Hamburg (HSU/UniBw H).Prof. Tobias Scheytt, the head of the Center for Postgraduate Studies (ZWW), hosted the event, which was enriched with heartfelt greetings and well-wishes.

New students have been enrolled in the master’s program Leadership in Medicine

In mid-September, 18 newly enrolled students began the continuing education master’s program Leadership in Medicine (FIM) at the Center for Postgraduate Studies (ZWW) of the Helmut Schmidt University/University of the German Armed Forces Hamburg (HSU/UniBw H).The program is aimed at (young) leaders and offers comprehensive further education that enables the analysis, design, and development of leadership tasks in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary contexts. This covers the entire range of tasks in medical and pharmaceutical institutions.

10 years of the Center for Postgraduate Studies

The Center for Postgraduate Studies (ZWW) at the Helmut Schmidt University/University of the German Armed Forces Hamburg (HSU/UniBw H) celebrated its 10th anniversary on September 26, 2023. Since its founding in 2013, the ZWW has built a wide repertoire of continuing education programs, distinguished by a broad range of national and international study programs and other educational offerings.

MCMImeets@HSU/UniBw H 2024

From June 28 to 30, 2024, 15 students and alumni of our continuing education master’s program Civil-Military Interaction (MCMI) visited our campus for the event MCMImeets@HSU/UniBw H 2024. The HSU has already reported on this. We started on Friday with fries and burgers for lunch, followed by a campus tour. For some of the students, it was their first time at HSU. We also invited Claude Bruderlein, a lecturer on global health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and senior researcher at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative.

Leadership in Medicine (FIM) – Graduation ceremony for 21 successful students

Corona pandemic, the attack on Ukraine: Those who began their continuing education master’s program „Leadership in Medicine“ (FIM) at the Helmut Schmidt University/University of the German Armed Forces Hamburg (HSU/UniBw H) in 2020 faced significant additional challenges due to the course of world history. All the more, we are delighted that the first graduates of this cohort of 21 students have successfully overcome all obstacles.

We look back at the past and forward to the future.We sincerely thank you for so many beautiful, intense, and successful moments we shared with you in the year that is coming to a close. „Sparkle your spirit“ was the motto of our 10th anniversary, which we celebrated last September. And this will continue to be our mission and goal in the future.

The program enables military junior leaders from the Bundeswehr and allied armed forces to complement and deepen their professional training with a scientific reflection on strategy, leadership, security, and international relations.
