With a festive ceremony, 33 graduates of the master’s programs Military Leadership and International Security (MFIS), Civil-Military Interaction (MCMI), and Leading Diversity (LEAD) were honored at the Helmut Schmidt University/University of the German Armed Forces Hamburg (HSU/UniBw H).

Prof. Tobias Scheytt, the head of the Center for Postgraduate Studies (ZWW), hosted the event, which was enriched with heartfelt greetings and well-wishes.

Among the congratulators were Prof. Christina Schaefer, Vice President for International Affairs, Colonel i.G. Thorsten Ilg, Deputy Commander and Director of Training at the German Armed Forces Command and Staff College, as well as Prof. Gary Schaal, Dean of the Faculty of WiSo, and Prof. Burkhard Meißner, MFIS Program Director.

A highlight of the evening was the inspiring keynote by Prof. Carola Groppe, Professor of Educational Science with a focus on Historical Educational Research, who, with her lecture „Education, Science, and the Officer Profession – Remarks on History and Present,“ provided insights into the connection between education and military leadership.

The continuing education master’s program MFIS offers young military leaders from the German Armed Forces and allied forces the opportunity to deepen their education through scientific reflection on strategy, leadership, security, and international relations.

In the MCMI program, participants acquire valuable competencies for civil-military cooperation in national and international contexts. This program is offered in close cooperation with the NATO Civil Military Cooperation Centre of Excellence (CIMIC-COE).

The Leading Diversity program has unfortunately been discontinued and is no longer offered.

The event was musically accompanied by the „Swinging Gents.“
